KJMC Uzhhorod

Messianic Jewish Congregation in Transcarpathia, Ukraine

Who We Are

KJMC Uzhhorod (locally known as KEMO, from the Ukrainian: КЄМО — Конгрегація Євреїв Месіанського Юдаїзму) is a Messianic Jewish Congregation in Transcarpathia — the westernmost region of Ukraine, bordering Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, and Romania.

Our journey began on February 27, 2022, when we arrived in Transcarpathia just three days after Russia’s full-scale invasion. Since then, our community has grown into a vibrant group of young believers, most aged 20–30.

We are part of the KJMC network (Union of Jewish Congregations of Messianic Judaism), a federation of 57+ congregations across 21 countries rooted in Kyiv’s KJMC, established in 1994.

Transcarpathia has one of the deepest Jewish roots in Europe — before the Holocaust, 43-50% of Mukachevo’s and 33-36% of Uzhhorod’s population was Jewish. Today, we serve their descendants, Jews displaced by the war from other regions, and all who seek faith.

A Bridge Between Cultures

Transcarpathia is a land where for centuries the destinies of Jews, Ukrainians, Hungarians, Slovaks, Romanians, and Roma have intersected. We continue this tradition of inter-ethnic cooperation: building bridges between Jewish heritage and Christian faith, between Ukraine and the peoples of Europe, between memory of the past and hope for the future.
