Come to Shabbat
- Every Saturday, 1:00 pm Kyiv time
- 72 Sobranetska St., Uzhhorod
- The service is in Ukrainian, translation on request
KJMC Uzhhorod is a Messianic Jewish congregation. Every Saturday we gather for Shabbat: for us it is not a list of rules but a gift - a weekly meeting with God and with the people close to us. Guests are welcome here. You do not need to be Jewish, know Hebrew, or know what to do - come as you are.
Good to know
- Language: the service is held in Ukrainian. Translation can be arranged on request - please write to us in advance.
- Friday dinner: roughly once every one to two months we also host a Shabbat dinner on Friday evening - ask us about the next one.
What happens
The Shabbat service is the central gathering of the week, when the whole community comes together:
- shared prayer in the spirit of Jewish liturgy;
- worship - music and singing;
- reading from the Torah and the Scriptures;
- a sermon - teaching from the Word;
- afterwards, time to talk over refreshments and ask any question you have.
What to expect the first time
Newcomers come every week. The atmosphere is warm and joyful, not stiff or solemn. There is no pressure: you can simply sit, listen and observe, and no one will single you out. Come as you are, modest and comfortable. Families with children are very welcome.
The short answers
Do I need to be Jewish? No. Everyone is welcome - Jewish or not, believer or still searching.
Do I have to know the prayers or Hebrew? Not at all. Just come and take part as much as you feel comfortable.
Is it like a church service or a synagogue service? A bit of both, and its own thing: Jewish in form and rhythm, centered on Yeshua, warm and family-like.
